I have owned this heater for nearly two years, and have yet to have a single problem with it. If the flame is too bright, switch the light bulb out to a 7 watt nightlight. I use a 4 watt LED nightlight, and the glow reminds me of coal fires from England. The only (and it is the ONLY) drawback is that the lightbulb is accessed by taking off a panel with a screwdriver. A panel that opens with a latch would be better, but I believe the makers didn't figure a lot of people switching the bulbs to customize the flame effect. This unit puts out as much heat (5115 BTU's) as the more expensive models. It truly is a bargain for the price. Combined with a plug-in thermostat, it's just about perfect.
